My Grey Jacket

Anybody miss my creation for myself like the old days? I do. And this is a muslin jacket that i've made two and a half years ago, about October 2010, right before i was pregnant. It was a jacket i made together with my other green jacket. I haven't got a chance to photograph & blog about it, until now. So here is it:

Well, i've actually made a coordinated skirt with it, but blame my mummy's brain, i totally forgot where is it. Especially after cleaning up my wardrobe recently. Maybe it's in the pile of the other closet in the other room.  Here is the only photo, taken in 2010, of the complete set which i wore during a group committee photoshoot in a work event.

I could not remember much about the-making process. But i remember this is a very great pattern and i absolutely love how the jacket turn out at that time. The only down side is i am using a very cheap, low quality, muslin fabric as that time i'm planning to make a muslin first before trying for a better fabric. Too bad i don't have time to make the second one and this one that i've made turn out better than i expected but with a very poor fabric. It is too thin and wrinkled so much no matter how i pressed.

These are some photos i managed to pull out from my 2010 photo folder of the making of this jacket.

I use black satin bias binding to finish the entire edge of the jacket. I love this detail. I also use a self-made fabric button as the front closure. For lining, just some patterned fabric i have in my stash (sorry no picture).

I use Simplicity 4238 jacket pattern. This is a very great pattern. I'm dreaming of making another version of the jacket. Read my pattern review

Oh, i really miss sewing for myself. Apart from my Popolok Design projects, I am currently working on a mega project. Coordinated dresses for 4 most important female in my life: my mum, my sister, my daughter and myself. How awesome is that. My parent will be celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary this end of April. And we planning to have a studio photoshoot of the whole family. I really hope i can finished all dresses in time. Wish me luck!

Nova Top & Dress for Bella

I'm making another peplum design for Bella. Just like Cece, but this time with sweetheart illusion yoke, cap sleeve and attached straight skirt. Look how adoreable my Bella in it:

I make three version. The dress, sleeveless top and a cap sleeved top. Bella is wearing size 2. For fabric, i used designer cotton from Zazu Collection by Tina Givens for the dress, Freshcut Collection by Heather Bailey for the cap-sleeved top and Verbena Collection by Kaffee Fassett, remnant from our handmade SSC for the sleeveless top. All the plain fabrics are cotton drill from our local store.

For the first time, we managed to arranged an outdoor photoshoot at a park. It was not as easy as i thought! Bella was so excited in the park and keep moving around, cannot even hold still for longer than 3 seconds. She even want to jump on the mud! But here are some of the best shots.

I really love the dress. I was very doubtful at first when drafting and sewing it. It was a very unusual cut for a little child. I honestly not sure how it will look. I even made some major mistake during making it, that i have to recut, rip and sew it again. But after finished it and put in on Bella, she looks like a beautiful little lady! And I can tell, she did like her dress. So, i'm pretty happy with it.

This pattern is available for sale in our Etsy, YCMT and FFL. For Malaysian, you may purchased at our FB store. It had been tested by our wonderful pattern tester & home sewist mama. You may view their review and creation in this album

I am now working on our next pattern called Nelia, another top and dress combo. But i have a very slow progress. Bella is currently teething. Her molars coming out. I have to be with her most nights and that's mean no time for sewing and making the PDFs. Oh yes, I do everything at night. People ask me how do i manage a job and making all these patterns, and i have to say that i work hard. So hard that one day i fall sick because of lack of sleep. But hey, I am so happy with our little Popolok right now. I love how people telling me they love my design and my patterns are nicely written. And i have so many ideas in our sketch book that i can't wait to make it. I need to pour this overwhelming passion somewhere. Right? :)
